Guess what I got for Christmas?

Yup, that’s right: a 30GB iPod G5. It’s great—I’ve loaded all my podcasts onto it, finally consolidated my home and office iTunes libraries, dumped in Address Book contacts and played around with the photo gallery. I can now listen to sermons (or American Radio) while I walk during my lunch break, and with the iTrip add-on I picked up, I now have my own truly conservative talk radio to listen to in the car.

The Downside: This means I’m now one of them.

I’m not the sort of guy who people hear and think, “he’s got a voice for radio!” I may have a face for radio, but that’s another matter entirely.

Anyway, it was with much trepidation that I pitched in on this week’s episode of The Freak Accident. I still haven’t listened to my own bits! Nicole says I did okay… alright, what she said was that it wasn’t terrible. I choose to interpret that as a compliment.

So give it a listen, especially ‘cuz Jeremy does a good job of cleaning up the mess at the end! (Dunkin’ Donuts dubbing Pluto “The Munchkin Planet” is a stroke of genius — like “Mad Scientist” genius.)

But there’s even more in the mix this week: Josh Alves and I are guest-hosting The Freak Accident while Jeremy Zehr is out camping with his family; look for the new episode later this week. And I’m one of five members in The Citizen Squid Project pilot program; I can’t share all the details, but we’re working on making Squidoo better and better!

I was playing the most recent message from Mars Hill in the background while I worked today, and when I heard this I just had to share it:

“I was told as a Catholic boy that Mary was always a virgin… which is not true. Now most of you dudes are like, ‘I would like to be married to a virgin!’ No, you’d like to get married to a virgin; none of you want to be married to a virgin! There’s a huge distinction. Huge distinction.” — Mark Driscoll, Paying Your Pastors (1 Corinthians 9:1-18), a sermon preached at Mars Hill Church in Seattle, WA on June 4th, 2006

I think what I like most about Mark Driscoll is how real he is. He just isn’t pretentious like so many other pastors are.

Okay, so Brian Hardin’s a bit…overdramatic in his reading at first, but by January 4th he’s calmed down a bit. Hey, it’s better than a lot of the audio Bibles I’ve come across. And it’s free, too! (Haha!)
