The Best Part of Waking Up, Part 2: Morning Café

More than anything, I would have to say that Folgers’ Gourmet Selections Morning Café blend is smooth. I’ve searched and searched, but I haven’t been able to find even a hint of bitterness in it. Now, I’m one of those guys who just doesn’t like Starbucks (if you know someone who does, though, here’s a nice Christmas gift idea), and the bitter taste of their coffee is the main reason why… so obviously, a smooth coffee is going to be right up my alley!

This was the first of Folgers’ Gourmet SelectionsTM that we tried, and I think it may be my favorite! In particular, this is the only coffee I’ve had in the past five years that doesn’t provoke a bout of acid reflux (YMMV). That alone is enough to win my heart–or at least my esophagus. :D

While this might make its name a bit of a misnomer, it’s especially nice served after dinner with dessert. (Nicole likes to put a scoop of ice cream in the coffee instead of creamer.) And because it’s such a gentle blend, Morning Café is now our semi-official “serve to guests” coffee.

I give it 5 stars!

  1. 8O Yummie COFFEE 8O
Maybe we should try some. But hey, StarBucks is awsome, espescialy there white cholcolate mocha thingy lol.
Now heres a question, and maybe you don’t have this problem but…… usualy when I drink coffee it makes my stomach hurt a lil. So I wounder if its he kind we get or if its just coffee in general :?
Well like I said sounds like the coffees Delicioso :D
PS: I’m liking the smilys teheehee

  2. Don’t like Starbucks? How have you come to resist the incredibly brilliant marketing that has convinced otherwise sane individuals to love bitter coffee, pay twice the price and recommend it to friends!

    :)

  3. Aw, c’mon you two! :P

For the record, I do like the White Chocolate Mochaccino. But I consider that more of a dessert than a drink. ;)

Andre, perhaps I’m simply rebelling against the regular mention of Starbucks from the pulpit (SGM pastors are the prime offenders here, methinks). Yup, I’m bad! (6) Just like John Piper.

  4. Travis! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you for being another voice for Folgers and against Starbucks. To me, if a coffee is bitter I don’t care how good the marketing is. Starbucks is overrated. If I get coffee out, I much much prefer Dunkins. YOu shouldn’t have to sweeten a coffee with cream, sugar, caramel, vanilla, cinnamon, hazelnut and motor oil to get it smooth and tasty. Oh, wait, did I say motor oil? I had Starbucks on the brain. I must try MOrning Cafe. I like everything else by Folger’s and love the price. They and Dunkins are my regulars. OH, yeh, and the frequent mentioning of Starbucks has turned me off. I think for every dollar a person spends at Starbucks, they should put one dollar towards either a foreign orphanage or our church parking lot.

  5. I’ll tell ya, the regular Folgers we’d been getting before literally smells like dirt compared to their Gourmet Selections line. But Dunkin’ Donuts? I wouldn’t quite go that far… :D

…and hey, don’t get me started on the parking lot! (6)
