Duty Calls…

I know, it’s like I’m rarely around here anyway! Still, some things have recently come up which, if I’m to handle them responsibly, will require as much energy and attention as I’m able to provide.

Because of that, I’m going to hit the “Pause” button (“Start” for you gamers) on this blog. I don’t plan to return before Thanksgiving.

If you want to know when I start posting again, please use the e-mail subscription form on the sidebar. All it’ll do is e-mail you when I update my blog — no spam! :)

I’ll see y’all!

What’s Next: “Tickle Me Wolvie”?

Itsy Bitsy Spider-Man

I just saw this a few minutes ago at ICv2:

The singing and dancing Itsy Bitsy Spider-Man plush launches Hasbro’s new Spider-Man and Friends product line that targets the toddler crowd.

Now… the “Rescue Heroes” knock-offs (Firefighter Spidey, anyone?) I could [just barely] stomach. But a “singing and dancing” Spidey? There’s just something wrong with Spider-Man, Elmo and Dora the Explorer being seen as equals. :?

And who’s gonna do the voice? Tobey Maguire? Christopher Daniel Barnes? I dunno…

Dave Tritt: Sheriff or No?

Last night was primaries night here in Maryland, which meant my ol’ buddy Dave was in a six-way race for the Republican nomination for Harford County Sheriff. As much as I’m behind him, I couldn’t vote for him. Why? Two reasons: first, I don’t live in Harford County. Second, you’ve got to be a registered Republican to vote in the Republican primaries. (That is to say, I vote Constitution Party.)

While L. Jesse Bane coasted to an easy victory for the Democratic nomination for sheriff, the Republican results were less clear. Cochran and Price were virtually deadlocked and barely ahead of four challengers. It could take a week for election officials to count absentee and provisional ballots and determine a winner.

You can get the latest results at the Harford County’s election results page. It looks like there’s a definite gap between Cochran/Price and Tritt/Benedetto, but you never know what may turn up during recounts and such. ;)

Hey, even if Dave doesn’t make it, he can always run as an Independent… right? :D

Derek Webb Read My Mind, Then Made It An Album

Yup, that’s right: Webb has apparently tapped into some latent telepathic ability, and is now using it to steal song ideas right out of my head! It’s so strange that it has to be true!

So what am I talking about? Well, I downloaded Webb’s Mockingbird album for free and gave it a listen… and it’s downright freaky how much the two of us think alike. I mean, really: each and every song tackles some issue I’ve been wrestling with at one point or another over the past five years. It’s crazy! Maybe we’re both prophets. ;)

So anyway… get your own free copy of the album at freederekwebb.com—and don’t worry, the link will stay on the site for a long time, thanks to the “tower” banner over on the sidebar. :)

(UPDATE: freederekwebb.com is down now, and the free downloads are no more. It was fun while it lasted, but you can still purchase Mockingbird, which I recommend.)
