Required Maintenance
It has come to my attention that I may be overlooking some rendering flaws in certain browsers. Now, I certainly don’t want to cause pain and hardship to those who have not yet become enlightened to the point of embracing the best web browser in existence, so hopefully you can help me help you!
Here’s the two-question quiz:
- Is this how my blog looks to you?
- If not, how does it differ?

Travis, I use Firefox because it is the best web browser in existence and your site is presented to me as it is in answer/choice/option #1.

Displays beautifully in Firefox, Opera and newer versions of Netscape. Not so good in IE, and it loads slowly as well. It’s not your page — blame Microsoft.

Oh, I do blame Microsoft. Still, it seems that 70% of the visits here are with IE 6, so I might as well clean up the mess it makes.
Too bad I’m never on the computer at home… I’d see it for myself!

70% of your visitors should step into the year 2006 and dump Bill Gates’ lousy browser and switch to Firefox (or Opera, a credible browser in its own right).
*shakes fist at MicroSoft*

A chunk of that group is probably my family… I’ve tried to get them to switch; even replaced the “e” with an IE-branded Firefox once.
But no, my family insists on being enslaved to Bill Gates.
::sigh::

I’ve found that most computer users (those that don’t know how it works or how to fix/correct/change even minor glitches and/or settings) fear the unknown.
Firefox? What’s that? Oh. Well, I’ll just stick with what I know. Since I am the only admin on my PC my wife and mother-in-law, who lives with us, both use Firefox. I made it the default browser and told them it works just like IE, only better and is more secure. I’ve shown my wife my various themes and extensions, and what the extensions do, but she just uses the vanilla Firefox. Still better than IE.

I am NOT a slave to Bill Gates… He actually PAYS me.
Now sure, by payment I mean a cot to sleep on in his “assistant’s” quarters and a loaf of bread a week, but it’s still payment!

Don’t you guys know that Gates wants you to design everything in FrontPage? That’s the only way to ensure 100% IE compatibility. I mean, c’mon!

Actually, I hear Microsoft’s new web design software, “Expression,” is a great improvement over Frontpage.
(Oh, and it uses an internal rendering engine instead of IE. Wonder why.)
