Maundy Thursday 0

Last Thursday, Nicole had a Stampin’ Up! demonstration, so I took Katie to Littlestown Chapel’s Maundy Thursday service. I got a raw deal, though, because contrary to tradition, no one volunteered to wash my feet.

We had a wonderful time… there was a slide show running in the background during communion, and with each successive slide showing another scene in the Gethsemane-to-Golgotha story, Katie would point to the projection screen and whisper, “Jesus?” She was a little confused, though: there was a picture of Jesus on the cross, being raised into the vertical position, but Katie must’ve thought there was a strong wind or something… when that slide came up, she asked, “Jesus fall down?”

Another funny moment was after I told her one of the slides was of “a lamb; a baby sheep.” Next time around, she looks at me and (as loud as she can) goes, “MOOOO.” Yeah. We’re still working on our animal sounds.

It was great catching up with old friends! Which reminds me, I’d better e-mail Josh…

The Governor and the President Have Murdered Terri Schiavo 0

[D]oes George W. Bush really expect us to believe that he can send our sons and daughters to all corners of the world fighting “terrorists” but he can’t stop the terrorist act of public execution taking place in Florida? Five years ago, on Easter Sunday Morning, the U.S. Justice Department thought they had the authority to raid a Florida home to steal Elian Gonzales from his mother’s family. So, why can’t they steal Terri Schiavo from those who are killing her?

Could it be that both brothers, while elected to executive positions, realize that it’s the unelected judiciary that advances the internationalist agenda that their father spoke about (the New World Order)? Don’t many of their globalist initiatives depend on the fact that we believe, falsely, that “law” is a changing, dynamic thing, and that judges, as the agents of that change, can “make” law? Could it be that while the Bush brothers and their one-worlder colleagues put up a fight against the United Nations or, in this case, against a state judge, that they really dont intend to win?

Could it all be a sham, start to finish? Could it be that they just want to look like they care about Terri Schiavo—or you—or me, or the Constitution, or America, but they don’t?

When they have us thoroughly convinced that judges can make up law, even to the extent that they can murder our daughters in front of our eyes, then they can do anything they want. They will have their new order.

Our founders recognized that all law, and liberty and government come from God. They founded our country on the presupposition that Christ is Lord. He still is Lord. He always was and always will be. He is Risen and through His Resurrection we can face tomorrow with hope. He is Sovereign. Amen.

This is murder and the Bush brothers are accomplices.

Somebody has to say it.

Grace and Truth (cross-post) 0

While I believe we as Christians must be compassionate to unbelievers—just as Jesus was—I believe this necessarily requires showing “tough love” to disciples and not hiding that from the unbelievers in our midst. I believe we do a great disservice to “seekers” when we butter them up to get them in, then start acting in tough love once we’ve “got ‘em”. It’s like a nasty bait-and-switch tactic.

The more loving thing would be to say, “There is grace, but there is also responsibility. Christ’s atonement covers all your sins if you repent, but the ultimate purpose of that forgiveness is to free you to live a God-glorifying life. You absolutely cannot use the Cross as a ‘get-out-of-Hell-free card’—that would be a mockery of God, and ‘Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.’1 If you would come to God, you must come on His terms: you must lay down your sinful rebellion, be washed of not only your sins, but your sinfulness, and be reborn by him as a new man—that is, a Christian (’mini-Christ’); one who lives as a son of God and desires nothing so much as God’s being honored and glorified in all his creation.”

The world does not hear that if our corporate worship looks and sounds like a rock concert followed by an episode of Dr. Phil.

Oops! 0

Due to a processing error, Dark Horse’s STAR WARS: VISIONARIES TP (JAN050045V) will be shipped to stores on March 16, despite originally being scheduled for later shipping.

This title falls under Lucasfilm’s embargo date for materials related to Star Wars: Episode III—Revenge of the Sith. As a result, it may not be sold or displayed until Saturday, April 2. Retailers MUST hold the Visionaries trade until that date, per 20th Century Fox & Lucasfilm’s licensing agreement.

Diamond and Dark Horse regret the inconvenience, but remind retailers that Dark Horse’s STAR WARS: VISIONARIES TP may NOT be sold or displayed until the embargo is lifted on Saturday, April 2. Until then, retailers are asked to keep the books off of the sales floor and made entirely unavailable to consumers.

Diamond and Dark Horse regret any confusion caused by this error. Retailers with further questions about this announcement should contact their Diamond Customer Service Representative.

Guess that means it’s practically inevitable that scans of the book will be up on LimeWire or eMule by sometime next week the end of the week. =)

Dr. R.C. R.C. is the editor of Tabletalk magazine, associate pastor of teaching of Saint Peter Presbyterian Church, and the director of the Highlands Study Center. He has written or edited nine books, and contributed to several others. He once wrote for World magazine, and for the Covenant Syndicate. At the Highlands Study Center, R.C. teaches the Tuesday Night Bible study for the community, most of the Highlands Academy classes, the resident students, and serves as senior editor of Every Thought Captive. When not busy teaching, or playing with the children, or tending to the chickens, he is making homebrew. (Bold emphasis added)
